East Orange Little League... A 100% Volunteer Organization
Our entire league is volunteer driven. From the board of directors to team Moms, generous people like you make our organization the very best youth sports experience in Central Florida.
This page contains information on the various roles needed to be filled each season. Find a role that resonates with you and get involved. Together, everyone achieves more.
If you are interested in filling a "team role", be sure to speak with the Manager of your child's team. If you are interested in participating on a committee, contact our Volunteer coordinator: Denise Lyons.
Team Manager:
This is one of the most important roles. Team Managers are responsible for organizing and managing all team activities including (but not limited to):
- Scheduling Practice
- Organizing Practices
- Draft Players (spring season only)
- Assigning Team Roles to Volunteers
- Communicating League Information to Players and Parents
- Implementing and Managing Game Approach and Personnel
Assistant Coach
Assistant coaches are chosen by the team manager. Each team is allowed two assistant coaches in the dugout during the game. A manager will assign and roster the two coaches of their choice. Managers may want to have more than two assistant coaches at practices. A team can use as many coaches they want during practice. The manager has the right to decide who and how many coaches the team will use.
If you are interested in being an assistant coach, please check the appropriate box on the registration application and follow up with your manager.
Team Mom
Managers may request assistance in the Team Mom role. A team Mom will assist the manager with team tasks such as:
- Organizing uniform distribution
- Organizing Post Game Snacks
- Assigning Snack Shack duties
- Planning End of the Season Party
If you are interested in volunteering as a Team Mom, please check the appropriate box on the registration application and follow up with your manager.
Team Safety Officer
A manager may choose to use a Team Safety Officer. This person would be responsible for such tasks as:
- Taking care of the First Aide Kit
- Assisting the manager to collect Medical Release forms.
- Making sure their is water and cups in the dugout for games and practice.
This role is one to be defined by the team manager. If you are interested in being a Team Safety Officer, please check the appropriate box on the registration application and follow up with your manager.
Umpire
This is the most important role for the league. It's not a game without the officials.
The league offers free clinics and instruction for those interested in volunteering. Umpires can participate in a reward system that supplies uniform pieces, equipment and advance training, FREE OF CHARGE. (See the UIC for more information).
If you are interested in becoming and umpire, please contact our Umpire In Chief: David Noegel.
Score Keeper
Every team is required to "keep" the official score book for all home games and most managers want to keep a book for ALL games. With a little training, provided by the league for free, you can become a valuable commodity for your team manager and the team.
Score keepers use a score book to track the game pitch by pitch. This is a great way to be apart of the game.
If you are interested in being a Score Keeper, please check the appropriate box on the registration application and follow up with the team manager.
